Research:

I am interested in time domain astronomy: seeing how objects in the sky change over time as a way of learning more about them. Most of the dynamics of galaxies happen on timescales too slow for humans to notice changes with one exception. Supernova explosion events regularly go off in galaxies unexpectedly and in dramatic fashion, increasing in brightness by a factor of 100 times in only a few hours. I research core-collapse supernovae habitats: Why do core-collapse supernova occur in some galaxies but not others? Can we predict the likeliness of one occurring at a certain region? How do these environments allow for SN-GRB pairings?
