Title: Quantum Black Holes Quantum Black Holes
Abstract: A Black hole is usually thought of as a geometric feature of a spacetime strongly warped by the gravitational collapse of a massive object. The physics of such a feature, however, mimics that of a finite quantum mechanical system governed by a chaotic Hamiltonian. I will highlight the major discoveries that led to this picture and discuss their implications on fundamental questions in quantum gravity, such as the nature of the black hole interior, Steven Hawking’s information paradox, and the fate of locality in a quantum spacetime.
