Shai Chester, Present and Future of the Conformal Bootstrap (12:50 PM - 3:00 PM)

-- Abstract: I will start by reviewing the most notable results of the numerical conformal bootstrap, as applied to conformal field theories (CFTs) in condensed matter, particle physics, and quantum gravity. This includes the most precise determination of critical exponents for the superfluid Helium transition, as well as the first non-perturbative calculation of the low-lying spectrum of a non-abelian gauge theory, which also has a holographic interpretation. I will then present outstanding problems, both general principles and specific physical systems, that the bootstrap would like to tackle in the next few years.
